Mama Mia ! Here we go again!

The global smash hit musical Mamma Mia opened with a bang at Istana Budaya yesterday and it was reported the tickets for all the shows till 4th January 2009 was sold out. Abba music and songs touched me so much in the 70s and 80s because I was studying in UKs at that time. It’s not only touched me but millions around the world at that time. I was told by the person who is responsible in bringing the Mama Mia here that it took him 10 years to get the act here. He was captivated by the show ten years ago in London and has made a crusade to bring that exciting show to Malaysian shore. The musical has generated more the $ 4 billion in tickets sales over the ten years. I did ask him how he finally convinced them to come to Malaysia after 10 years. He said it must be my persistent and commitment that finally bring the most famous musical to KL.

Sato' StevenTan & Wife .... Mama Mia Beautiful Couple

Of course he was doing it for the Star, the organization responsible for bringing the act here alongside the other sponsors. It was good to note that $ 1.2 million collected from the tickets sales & donations has been given out to 10 charity organizations. What a way to practice caring society and kudos to the Star and SP Setia.
Although I will be leaving to UK soon on business and holiday trip I shall come back in time to catch the show before it end. Thank you to my friend Dato’ Steven Tan the Deputy Chairman of The Star for securing two tickets for me to enjoy the show on the New Year eve. It will definitely seal my new year with a smile ABBA style. Congratulations too to Dato’ Steven Tan for his success in bringing Mama Mia to Malaysia.

My trip to UK this time will bring back the memory of good old days when I was studying there in 70s and 80s, the ABBA time. Hope to visit my second home Liverpool and catch up with the new developments and friends who may still be there. I shall be in London to visit Malaysian Hall and maybe catch up with Kak Teh and Awang Goneng. The trip will also coincides with my 20th wedding anniversary that around the corner. It going to be Mama Mia Here we go again trip for us.

Langkawi Geopark - Therapy for City Stress

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha for Muslims Bloggers

A beautiful view from my balcony

I have been to Langkawi many times over the years but I guess I have not given the Island much justice by not writing or sharing anything about the Island to the cyber community. Although the island captivated me every time I spent my time there but never to the extent of wantig to blog about it, but then the trip to the Island last week was something special because I was spending three days two nights holiday with my wife and family there.

Sunset at the Perdana Quay & Marina

Mega Yachts & Sail Boats

Packed & Busy Marina

Langkawi has so much to offer to the local or international tourists in terms of its perfect beaches, historic sites, beautiful islands, nature watch and fishing or shall I say a perfect geopark, it"s new branding. In terms of facilities it has the most expensive hotels and even cheapest lodgings for backpackers. The whole area of Pantai Cenang is now full of shops, restaurants, cafes, bistros, spas, hotels and chalets. The area was full of local and international tourists especially at night. It looks like all the European tourists have migrated from Phuket to Langkawi.

Beautifully Designed and Decor : Sunday Bistro @ Pantai Tengah

Waiting for our dinner @Sunday Bistro

The kids love the Bistro as much

I managed to stop at Perdana Quay and marina which was full of yachts. It looks like Monaco with the trendy cafes by the waterfront. Since the café was too expensive even for me, so I decided to take some shots and walk around instead of spending my money there.

It won’t be complete to visit Langkawi without going on the cable car ride up 700 feet to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Island. I will be doing injustice trying to describe the beauty in words, so let the pictures tell the story on how wonderful it is from up above.

Fishes at the Under Water World Aquaria

Shark swimming with grace and fatality

Stingray flaying in the water

Rock or a fish?

Jelly fish ....... soft and itchy

The collections of fishes at the Under Water World will provide you with other dimensions of what lies in the waters around the island and even further beyond. My kids just love the Aquaria and for me it reminds of the diversity and mystics of living things in the deep ocean.

Cable car que

View from above

Viewing platform .... 700 feet above sea level

Awana Porto Malai was a perfect hotel for me while the RM 100 per day car that I rented provides us with cheap transport to roam the island. With the cheap regular Air Asia service to the Island, it just seal up a perfect holiday destination for many. My advice please don’t limit your visit to buy cheap branded dinner sets or batik jawa but explore the true natural beauty of the island and its slow pace which is a therapy to fast crazy city life.

Dah Semak Rekod KWSP?

Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan - Pengkid & Yoga-

UMNO Election 09 - Survival & Revival ?

The preliminary nominations for eligibility to contest UMNO leaderships are moving smoothly with cursory indications of the divisions preferences. But as usual the popularity does not guarantee when it comes to the real election in March 2009. Anything can happen between now and then. Some of the candidates will definitely do all the possible ways and means to win the delegations votes legally or illegally. Lets stop being naive and accepted that there will be culprits among the contenders who will do anything to win and also delegates who are more then willing to sell their votes and dignity for money and favor. It does no only happen in UMNO only but almost all political parties in Malaysia or even abroad.

Despite having my preferences but I always believed that healthy competition is good for democracy to thrive and people to choose. So let Mukhriz Mahathir, Khairy Jamaluddin and Khir Toyo slog it out in March 2009. Let see when it comes to reality will he UMNO Youth use their common sense and pick the best candidate to lead them out of despair and back to glory. Are they going to choose fresh face who is vocal on the requirements for change or a person who has been blamed for contributing to the downfall of Pak Lah or former Menteri Besar who has lost his State? The differences between the candidates are very clear and their track record speaks for itself.

The Presidency of UMNO looks all set for Datuk Sri Sri Najib Tun Razak . Well when you spent all your life in Politics and serving the country, the premiership should come natural. I have no problem with him because he had the experience, intelligence and charisma to be good and effective leader. Looking at the other contenders or even the opposition leaders, although not perfect, but definitely he is better off then the others.

For the Deputy President post, Tan Sri Muhyiddin seemed to leads the way comfortably but then it’s too early to write out the others. My support for Muhyiddin is not because he came from Johor my home state but because he is the most credible and intelligent among the three contenders. He is willing to speak out his mind and not just tow the line when it’s much needed in UMNO. For a person who usually did not talk too much he became at times the sole voice of dissents against the mediocre leadership. With due respect Tan Sri Muhammad Taib is a spent force and ineffective while Datuk Sri Mohd Ali Rustam is too much a yes man without much to shout about.

There seemed to be intense competition for Putri UMNO leadership and it is very healthy. The Putri need leader who is intelligent and effective to win the hearts of younger generations for those who win the heart of the young will rule this nation. I did not know the contenders well to put my preferences but wish the Putri all the best in choosing their leaders.

Wanita UMNO is in a dilemma to choose between old leader and young leader who lost an election. Something has to be done to this group to make sure it continues to be relevant and effective. Unfortunately I do not believe in choosing losers to be leaders.

To all UMNO members it is the time for you to make the difference and contribute to the survival and revival of the UMNO legacy. Put the interests of AGAMA, BANGSA DAN NEGARA beyond yourself in choosing the new leaders, as I said earlier choose the PATRIOTS among you to leads the crusades for the revival of UMNO and survival of this great Nation. Do not betray yourself, the Malay Race and PERJUANGAN dengan pulangan yang amat sedikit yang telah pengkhianat janjikan. Do the RIGHT thing and be proud of it, because you are the savior of the sinking ship.

THESTAR

KUALA LUMPUR: The battle is on. Khairy Jamaluddin can now take on Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir for the Umno Youth Chief post.

After a three-week wait to qualify, Khairy who is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s son-in-law, went past the 39 nominations’ eligibility mark and secured a total of 44 nominations.

On Saturday itself, he received a total of seven nominations. They came from Tawau, Tangga Batu, Gua Musang, Sembrong, Papar, Sabak Bernam and Kuala Kangsar. The nomination from Sembrong is particularly significant because the present Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein is the MP and division chief. Khairy is Hishammuddin’s deputy in Umno Youth and there was speculation about whom the Sembrong division would back.

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s Gua Musang division also sprang a surprise when it threw out the nomination from the Youth meeting on Thursday and reconvened a new meeting on Saturday and picked Khairy as its choice.

Earlier, the division had nominated Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo. Khairy said he was pleased to have qualified “given the level of scrutiny” he had to go through from the time he entered the political arena in 1999. “I shall subject myself now to an even more intense screening not just by delegates to the Youth Umno general assembly but all Malaysians who have encountered a range of stories, good and bad, about me. “I accept that the onus is on me to explain my convictions and reasons for offering myself as a prospective leader,” said the Rembau MP.
Meanwhile, Mukhriz, the son of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, is still in the lead with 66 nominations, well over the crucial 39 needed. On Saturday, he picked up nominations from Sri Gading and Tambun.

The third contender, Dr Khir, is not too far behind. He has 36 nominations to date. The 191 divisions have until Nov 9 to hold their meetings and offer their nominations ahead of party polls in March. The other contest that seems to be shaping up into a possible interesting fight is the race for the Wanita Chief post. Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil continued to receive a string of nominations for the movement’s top post. Her tally now stands at 52, having received nominations on Saturday from Kubang Pasu, Parit, Hulu Terengganu, Pendang, Bagan, Jelutong, Lumut, Teluk Intan, Tangga Batu, Kota Marudu and Papar. She needs only 39 to be eligible to challenge Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz for the post. Rafidah who had qualified for the Wanita top post two weeks ago continued to receive nominations on Saturday including from Pekan, Sabak Bernam, Jerai, Tenggara, Seputeh and Segamat. Interestingly, Rafidah’s own Kuala Kangsar division gave its nomination to her as expected but did not pick Shahrizat for the deputy Wanita post. It chose Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim as the movement’s number two post.

Rafidah and her deputy Shahrizat had an understanding that they would not challenge each other for the Wanita Chief post and she (Rafidah) would step down in June next year and hand over the reins of power to the number two. Shahrizat had said she would not challenge her boss (Rafidah) even if she received enough nominations, but a number of Wanita divisions have chosen to ignore this transition plan by nominating Shahrizat to the top post. Since qualifying for the post, Shahrizat has been avoiding the media.

For the Puteri wing, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and Datuk Shahaniza Shamsudin are neck-and-neck in the nominations. Both have qualified to contest the post and are still picking up nominations. Both have 55 each.

The other interested candidates Datin Ismalina Ismail (28), Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid (16) and Azlina Mehtab (9) and Nurdiana Shafie (1) have yet to qualify.

Pak Lah Make Way

At last Pak Lah made the right decision to step down as UMNO President by March 2009. As the Captain of UMNO and BN, he is fully responsible for the states the party and coalition are currently facing and sinking. It is a responsible and courageous decision that must be respected and appreciated.

Of course there were handful of supporters that have been screaming at Pak Lah residence and PWTC requesting him to stay on but then this must be the same people that have been giving him misguiding advice and support that leads to his downfall. The Pakatan Rakyat leaders were of course very disappointed; they too have been encouraging Pak Lah to stay on because their chance of destroying UMNO and BN will be definite if Pak Lah stays on. They have been manipulating on Pak Lah weaknesses to pressures the Federal Government and enticing pale hearts politicians to practice political frogging. Recently it was worthy to note that PAS and DAP leaderships have openly declared that they are not in favor of running over the ruling government through political frogging. An act that must be despised on whatever reasons. You can say about all sorts of bad practice and deeds of the BN Government but the fact remains that Malaysia is better off then many country in this world and any country surrounding us. If the BN is so manipulative in the elections the PR will not be able to win any states in Malaysia.

The fact is, Pakatan Rakyat is not that strong but UMNO and BN is becoming weaker due to unpopular leaderships and poor response to the current expectations of the Rakyat. The changing of Premiership in UMNO will provide the platform for UMNO to reengineer itself and cleanup their leaderships rolls from corrupts and incapable leaders. To survive UMNO has no choice but make way for the true Patriots among them to take on the PR. Those who were responsible for the downfall of UMNO and BN should not be considered for any key positions in the organizations. This includes former MBs and Wakil Rakyat that have lost in the last elections. It includes even Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah that too old and could not do much even in Kelantan. For the corrupts and losers do the right thing make way for the Patriot among your comrades, who put AGAMA, BANGSA DAN NEGARA above themselves. Let loose the UMNO Patriots to face the PR and the chance is that they will not only win but recover the losing ground.

Manusia : Hina & Mulia

Don't Forget or Pretend to......

It was a joke when the BN BBC members went to Taiwan for a study tour, but it was a bigger joke when the PKR sent their team in pursuit to the same hotel in Taiwan. I hope the people realized by now who is the bigger clown among the two. For God sake grow up and stop messing around with the country future.

Don't forget what they said: The generosity and kindness of the Malays are time tested. The sound minded forefathers from the other races were examplary too. Let’s see if the current generations could match the love of the country more then their love for power and lust. For those who have no patience will never made a good leader. Whatever it is NOBODY has the right to put this country at ransom.

Tun Tan Siew Sin, Presiden MCA dalam akhbar tempatan bertajuk "Tun Tan Answers Critics on Special Privileges" dalam ucapan pada 30 April1969.

"The Malays, through UMNO, were generous enough to relax the citizenship laws of this country to such an extent that within 12 months of independence, 90 percent of the non-Malays had become citizens whereas before independence 90 percent were still non-citizens after nearly 100 years of colonial rule in the MalayStates. In return for this major concession, the MCA and the MICagreed to continue the policy of preserving the special position ofthe Malays while at the same time upholding the legitimate interests of other communities.''

Ucapan YB Tun V.T. Sambanthan, Presiden MIC merangkap Menteri KerjaRaya, Pos dan Telekom di Dewan Rakyat pada 01 Jun 1965.

"Now, in 1955 we won the elections with a great majority. Then we obtained freedom in two years time. During this period, we had todiscuss citizenship and various other things. Now, what did the Malays do – since we are speaking on racial lines – what did the Malay leadership do?They had 88 percent of the electorate still with them. What did they do with citizenship?

If we look around in Asia and East Asia, particularly, you will find that my race the Indian race, is not welcomed in Ceylon, is not welcomed in Burma. Look at my brother Chinese race, it is not welcomed in Thailand, in Vietnam, in Cambodia, in all the other areas. What help do they get for citizenship in all these territories? In Burma, as we know, Indians have been send packing, in Ceylon they refused them citizenship and in Burma it is likewise. I know it, you know it.And yet in Malaya what happened? Here, we found that the Malay leadership said, " We shall take them unto ourselves as brothers, we shall give them full opportunity to live in this country, we shall give them every opportunity to become citizens". And so, in 1957, for the whole year, we waived language qualifications, and tens ofthousands of Indians, Chinese, Ceylonese and others became citizens...

As I said, it has been my great good fortune to have been born in this country. Where else can you find a more charitable, a more polite, amore decent race than the Malay race?Where else can you get such politically decent treatment for any immigrant race? Where else in the history of the world ? I ask you. These are the facts. Who are you to safeguard us? I am 10 percent minority race here. But I am happy here."

Janji Allah

1) Surah Ghaafir:60 maksudnya ;

Dan Tuhan kamu berfirman: “ Berdoalah kau kepadaKu nescaya Aku perkenankan doa permohonan kamu.

2) Surah al-Baqarah: 186 maksudnya;

Dan apabila hamba-hambaKu bertanya kepadamu mengenai Aku maka ( beritahu kepada mereka): Sesugguhnya Aku ( Allah ) sentiasa hampir ( kepada mereka ); Aku perkenankan permohonan orang yang berdoa apabila ia berdoa kepadaKu.

PERSOALANNYA, SUDAH BANYAK BERDOA, TETAPI KENAPA TIDAK DIMAKBULKAN ???

SYARAT MAKBUL DOA

1) YAKIN - Allah Maha Mendengar munajat hambaNya
- Allah menepati janji
2) KHUSYU - Mengaharap
Tuan Guru Nik Aziz Berdoa : Yakin, khusyu & sabar

SEBAHAGIAN WAKTU DOA MUSTAJAB

3) Sepertiga malam
4) Di antara azan dan iqamat

Merdeka 51 & Ramadhan Al Mubarak

Soon it will be Merdeka 51 for Malaysians but looking back at Merdeka 50, the air of celebrations is so much in contrast. There were so many changes in terms of political stability and economical pressures. The current political landscape and economical downturns has created this somber looks among Malaysians. Everybody seemed to have something to complain be it at home, work or running of the country.

The reality is Malaysian has changed and majority of the Rakyat have changed their mindset in terms expectations and aspirations. Gone were the days when the Rakyat can be threatened or bought with subsidies and goodies. In fact they are becoming INDEPENDENT in determining their political affiliations and in pursuing the new Malaysia.

For those who fail to accept the change and reinvent themselves, they will become outdated and out of trends. Counting their demise and extinction. Although there are two schools of thoughts on the results of Permatang Pauh by election, but the verdict is clear beating BN will be the trends for the few years to come especially to the young voters of 45 years and below. In fact more then 35% of the older, felt this way too. I was surprised when a 57 years old taxi driver was all for the change during our heavy political chat this morning. He was so excited to convince me and even slowed down his taxi to prolong our chat.

Whatever it is, in the spirit of Merdeka 51, I really hope the storm that bashing the ship called Malaysia will eventually passed through without wrecking her and we will all arrive in the safe haven for the benefit of future generations. We may have to jettison few cargoes and personality to achieve this.

To All Great Malaysians Happy MERDEKA 51

To fellow Muslims I take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness for whatever wrong I did throughout of our friendship and encounters. May Allah give you strength, health and patience to observe the Ramadhan Al Mubarak. May our fasting and good deeds be accepted and rewarded by God Almighty. Amen.

SELAMAT BERTEMU DAN BERIBADAH DI RAMADHAN AL MUBARAK.

Life after Retirement?

Time really flies, in a couple of years I will be retiring from current employer. I was avoiding the course on “Preparing for Retirement” for quite sometime despite good recommendation from many friends. Last week I changed my mind and attended the program at Melaka Holiday Inn with twenty others. Interestingly it turned out to be an enjoyable and very informative program and worth the money paid by my company.

There were so many things that I took for granted and neglected so far but finally became a priority to me and fellow participants. Some of the things that I have been practicing for quite a few years now are being reaffirmed as positive moves in preparation for retirement. The program was made very interesting by the principal trainer Syed Abd Aziz who used not only his knowledge but lifetime experience to drive in the points and reality of life.

I have never trust an insurance man nor unit trust sellers and the trainers reaffirmed my instinct that you need to avoid getting into the trap of these two salespersons. We need to understand how the two system works fully before committing to it, otherwise we will become the casualty of the system. I keep most of my hard earned savings in the ASN, ASP and ASB (fixed investment) and surprisingly the trainer who is master sellers in insurance and unit trust did the same thing with his savings.

Some of the learning objectives covered in the course are:

1. To take steps to appreciate phases of life retirees will go through upon retirement.
2. To take steps to be mentally, physically and emotionally prepared during these transition phases.
3. To explain step on how to make investment decisions and evaluate opportunities.
4. To identify wealth protection measures.
5. To identify opportunities where retirees can serve the society and nation.
6. To explore select areas of interest.
7. To develop a network and support group.

In the nut cell the programs covers: Preparation of Retirement, Financial Planning, Investment, Protection and Estate Planning, Entrepreneurship, Healthy Aging, Volunteerism, Hobbies and Leisure.

As the result from the program I am now changing my paradigm from dependence to independence, breaking away from the employee mentality to entrepreneurship. I am working towards replacing my existing perks and incentives with new suitable alternative choices such as:

1. My own medical and insurance program.
2. Program to protect my capital.
3. Choosing suitable investment vehicle to transport my wealth through final life phase.
4. Preparing myself with spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical stability to wage through the independence paradigm.

As for my investment direction it will be heavy on fixed instrument instead of equity based investment. There will be about 25% exposure on strategic properties to spread out my basket of investment, while knowledge and experience will be used heavily on business and entrepreneurship ventures. The knowledge, experience and network will be used to offset financial commitment in business ventures and hopefully it will minimize my financial risk.

I have to write a will now to ensure that whatever I have will be properly administered and distributed among my wife and children when I am not around. The last thing that I want will be for them to quarrel over my little properties and to ensue they will have a better future even without me.

I have set my new mission to be the role model to my family and society in wealth creations and sharing. To achieve balance life in spiritual, health and wealth. My KPIs have gone beyond me; it will be based on the performance and success of my children and people around me. It will be based on how much I give back to the people and universe.

Fruits of Labor

My only rambutan tree

Ehemmm see the fruits

Remember the green rambutans in My Garden posting. Well it’s yellow now, sweet, juicy and delicious. Beside my neighbors and friends the musang, squirrels, bats and birds have been having a field day enjoying the fruits.

U Lee sorry x mail u ....it's sweet, juicy and delicious

The single 18 years old rambutan tree has never failed to given me the coziness of plucking and eating rambutans in my own garden. You need to plant, care, nourish and the tree will never failed you. Just like a friendship.
You get what you plant no!!!

Tribute to Wan Azizah Wan Ismail

Datuk Seri Wan Azizah

In September 1998 her husband was arrested, charged in court for abused of power and jailed. Although the main charge then was sodomy but it doesn’t stick, so they put him in on power abused. They thought Datuk Seri Wan Azizah will break down and fade away alongside his jailed husband.

But all the calculations and predictions were wrong, she fought like a wounded warrior. She even retained the Permatang Pauh seat when all the other PKR candidates went down on the BN onslaught in 2004. When the powerful ruling party was laughing at her seemed hopeless battle she kept her course with dozen of faithful lieutenants. Of course in 2008 she created history when PKR became giant killer and the Pakatan Rakyat almost outruns the BN at the Federal Level and captured five states. She became the first women opposition leader. She may be a reluctant politician but very good at it.

You may hate Anwar Ibrahim but it's difficult to dislike this woman. In fact she will become a legend in Malaysian history for a woman who not only stand by his husband but fight on against the mighty ruling party. She was more then a loving wife that gave up her seat for her husband, but a woman who willingly sacrifice her tears, blood and power for the love of the family. Right or wrong this hero deserved to be applauded and recognized as a testimony to women success in overcoming tremendous challenge in life and politics.

The Malay Politics

Ever since Malaysian 12th Election the politics in Malaysia was unsettled. The once mighty Malay political power was now disarrayed and obscured like a ship sailing in a fog. Gone was the day when my Chinese and Indian friends openly acknowledged that they could not match the political skill of the Malays. The Malays are now being challenged openly not only by the non Malay but also their own kind who are now championing equality and Bangsa Malaysia. Unlike the Chinese business and economic dominance the Malay political power is wavering.

Maybe it’s true when they said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts to the bone. It’s the absolute power that finally became the virus that now threatening the Malay political power. Majority of those with power forgets their ultimate responsibilities to look after not only the Malays but other races in Malaysia. Even now in this disarray if somebody are able to unite the Malays from the various political parties, the dominance will become absolute again.

Perhaps that why UMNO is trying their level best to talk and collaborate with PAS and willing to give up supreme positions in few states to prove the above theory. Politics is after all the art of impossibilities. In politics if you gained the trust and confidence of the masses you have the power to win and rule. It’s proven in the fight against Malayan Union and the rise of Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat after being demolished in the epic and 2004 election.

The Governing structure of Malaysia is based on Malay monarchy and pivotal Malay politics. It will not change unless the system was proven to be corrupts and totally unfair to the others. Perhaps it’s not the structure and system failure but rather the failure of the people running the system which resulted in current political turmoil. Will it end in mid September as claimed by Anwar Ibrahim or will it prolonged and killed this country slowly but surely. Definitely PAS and its leadership is the kingmaker here or the king himself. As a Muslim based party lets hope it will be true to its struggle for justice and prosperity of mankind the Islamic way.

Meanwhile everybody will be jittery watching for the PAS move in Perak and Selangor. The PAS President and Spiritual Leader will have to steer the Party to bigger glory without abandoning its principle. If they follow the God way it will be perfect.

Afternoon wih Raden Galoh

UPDATE SUNDAY 27/7/08

Raden will start her Chemo Therapy on Monday 28/7. Will be away to Jakarta today till Thursday but my prayer will always be with her. To Raden cyber friends keep up the good support and prayers.

Long walk from parking lot @ Hindu Temple

The Clinic where Raden is being treated

Arrival of the Kerp, MuteAudio & Talkonly

As most of us have already knew, one of our dear fellow bloggers Raden Galoh has been admitted to General Hospital Kuala Lumpur since Monday due to the relapse of her breast cancer. From her own words the result of the test was not good at all and she is currently waiting for the insertion of chemoport before proceeding with chemo.

Smiles for Raden : Zabs, JaffPoint, Shah, MuteAudio & Kerp

All ears, listening to Raden progress report

“Since Monday I was warded. The news had struck a bigger impact in me. The cancer is found to have spread to 4 areas: the flesh in between the ribs, the liver, the right jaw node and the left shoulder node. The doctor recommended that I undergo chemo again, this time a heavier dose is suggested. But on Tuesday they found out my veins have badly collapsed, maybe too stressed with the chemo attack done 2005. I need a chemoport inserted under my right chest skin to ease this chemo.I waited for the surgeon last nite. He came this morning but a date can't be fixed. He needs to see the chemoport and check the available date. Again, I need to wait”.

Today we were able to assemble the men forward party to visit Raden Galoh at the GHKL. The team comprised of non other then Kerp, Mat Salo, Shah Talkonly, Zabs, MuteAudio and Jaff Point. The meeting point was GHKL @ 12.30 hrs sharp. The parking at GHKL was rather hopeless with hardly any empty parking space for us. Most of us have to take two to three rounds the hospital before giving up and parked at Hindu Temple 1.5 km away.

Zabs .... he looks like one of the Specialist

But it was worth the time and walk when we saw the smiling face of Raden Galoh at Ward 2A Bed 19. She was still the pillar of strength and so happy to see us. Well there were lots of questions from all the busy body men and she maintained her radiance and shared with us first hands on her progress. We spent about an hour with her before bidding good bye.

It was good to be able to meet her and shared our concerned and prayer for her speedy recovery. It is also a reminder to us to be thankful for the good health blessed upon us.

Raden Galoh ..... we all Love you

ANWAR V SHABERY : The Winner Is ??

It was a good debate and I must credit Datuk Ahmad Shabery for his courage to defend the government policy on oil hike LIVE. Hope more similar debate could be organized on key issues that affecting the Rakyat and Country. I bet almost everybody was watching the live debate last night. My wife has to pick up my children from their tuition class because I do not want to miss the last 10 minutes of the debate.

How did they perform then? Actually Datuk Ahmad Shabery is not the match for Datuk Sri Anwar, courage alone is not sufficient to win the war. You need solid ammunitions and strategy to out wit your enemy. Shabery strategy to attack Anwar on personal basis does not work or rather back fired when it was mostly ignored by Anwar. His knowledge on the micro and macro economy including oil and gas industry was rather weak compared to Anwar stastiscs and points on the subject matter. Being just an Information Minister Shabery has limitation in putting forward killer strategy or concrete measures to out wit Anwar because that can only be done by the PM who has ultimate power on such matter. Despite wavering towards the ends, Shabery tried his level best to attack Anwar till the end. Given time and more exposure he could be a better minister, simply because he is not afraid to engage with all parties which include bloggers, oppositions and NGOs.

But the real winner last night was PETRONAS. Both parties agreed and subscribed that PETRONAS has performed extremely well in safeguarding and delivering its mission and objectives. It has become the backbone to the country financial revenue for the past decades and will remains such for many years to come. Both debaters can’t help but keep referring and praising PETRONAS throughout their one hour session.

The financial performance announced by PETRONAS yesterday reflected another sterling and record breaking performance, contributing RM 67.6 bil which is 44% of Government total revenue for 2008. This is one company that should not be politicized but nourish and promote to safeguard the financial security of the country and future generations.

Meanwhile the concerned by the President of PETRONAS must be addressed by the Government and relevant parties i.e.:
1. It is safe for the Government to be too dependent on oil and gas sector which amounted to 50% of total revenue?
2. What have happened to the other sectors such Manufacturing that has been given so many incentives but minimal economic contributions?
3. The Government must be transparent on the spending of PETRONAS contributions so that the Rakyat will fully understand the truth about PETRONAS role and contributions in nation building.

World Heritage Sites - Penang, Malacca & KL ??

Kuala Lumpur Railway Station

It was a proud moments for Penang and Malacca when the Unesco listed both George Town and Malacca as World Heritage Sites. In fact Malacca has been doing a great job in the preservation of the historical sites in the City and turning it into star performer for tourism. For a small state without much resources Malacca is very successful in making the Historical City as a must visit tourist site in Malaysia. Penang is not far off but somehow or rather has lost some of it charms as the Pearl of the Orient. Much have to be done for the state to come back to its old glory as tourist premier destination. It is a good challenge for the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to bring back Penang to its old glory, making use of the listing of George Town as World Heritage site as a prime mover to bring back the charm of the city.
KTM Logistics Lorry operating at the Station

Heritage Hotel still operating in the building

All well and fine for Malacca and Penang but I was so disappointed when I took a stroll to the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. After the new Central Station took over as the main hub for the city railway system the old building was left behind without much maintenance and care. Yes the commuter train and cargo/mail section are still operating there but that old majestic historical building was left without much care, maintenance and preservations. There is a Mini Railway Museum in the building but the layout and presentation of displayed items is not much to be proud about. The section on Artist at Work is also poorly done and very unorganized. I guess the intention is good but the implementation is poor like “ melepaskan batuk ditangga aja”. It is definitely not the way to treat a historical buildings and the KTM has done a poor job to turn this site as one of the tourist attraction in KL.
KTM Old eqipments and models on display
Display items in KTM Mini Museum
Art at Work, few resident artists in the building
Art Work not properly displayed or housed

I am confident that the historical buildings along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin i.e. KL Railway Station, Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad , Royal Selangor Club, Mesjid Jamek, Central Market etc. ..if properly maintained, preserved, documented and publicized will be the star attraction for historical buildings/sites in KL. It should become the next site to be accepted by Unisco as World Heritage Sites.

Lets hope the KTM, KL Mayor, Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage and all relevant authorities will take a concerted effort in the preservation and conservation of historical sites in KL and make sure that KL will be listed as the next World Heritage Sites for Malaysia.
