Taman Tasik Cempaka @ Bangi

Taman Tasik Cempaka is one of the Jewel of Bangi that provides the community with large spacious lake garden for healthy lifestyle. Every weekend it will be crowded with joggers, brisk walkers or simply people having leisure times with their family.

The scenic Bridge, Lake & Garden View

The lake garden is complete with more the 4 kms jogging tracks, kid’s playgrounds, stretching and exercise spots, reflexology tracks, small foot ball field, picnic gazebos etc. The Bangi community that practiced healthy lifestyle will used the garden as their playground while others unwind themselves with their family and friends after hectic days at work.
Two kinds on the Cempaka Stone

Kid's Playground .... colorful

The place is a must for my weekend brisk walking and exercise routines. Used to join the Sunday aerobic session by the lake but lately it was changed to Saturday at the Bangi Walk corner, which I found not suitable at all for the program . Hope the organiser will change it back to the regular spot by the lake that provides fresher air and ample space compared to the congested Bangi Walk by the main road. While you walked around the lake enjoyed the sight of Chikong practitioners and Pocho Pocho dancers that add to the colorful life in the garden.

A recreational area is a must to propagate healthy lifestyle and Bangi is lucky to have Taman Tasik Cempaka. It must be utilized and preserved by the community as a treasure and landmarks for the Knowledge City. We have to exercise and look after our health or else others will have to look after us.
Reflexology Track ..... can cure your ills ???

Football ...... Turkey in Red

Family outing .... kid's playground

Start the healthy lifestyle early ... follow big bro

Bangi walk ..... nice but too narrow for aerobic session

Bangi Mosque .... just nearby .... Green dome like Mesjid Nabi

PKNS Shopping Mall .... near the lake too
Bangi Kopitiam ..... popular spot for kopi and roti bakar
Puncak Bangi ... Semi-D RM 800K each facing the lake

BANGI - KNOWLEDGE CITY

UKM - Dewan Canselor Tun Abd Razak

It was a memorable day for Bangi today as the Menteri Besar of Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim launched the declaration of Bangi as Knowledge City in line with one of the PR Manifesto in PRU 12. The launching carried out at Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor ( KUIS ) Bandar Sri Putra, Bangi 9.00 AM 22 June 2008.

Personally I think the declaration is long overdue but a smart move to capitalize and galvanize the intellectual capacities that reside in the Bangi Knowledge City. For more then three decades Bangi has evolved from a small town with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as the anchor tenant into a town flourishing with Universities, Colleges, Training Institutes and Research Centers. All the highly educated staff from the organizations resides in Bangi, creating a population of intellectuals and knowledge society that contributed tremendously in the development of the nation. In fact it is safe to say that Bangi Knowledge City has the most educated population in the country ( i.e. Holders of Masters, Ir., Dr., PhD, Assoc Prof and Professors ).

Some of the institutions in the vicinity of Bangi include :

1. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia
2. Universiti Putra Malaysia
3. Universiti Multimedia Malaysia
4. Universiti Tenaga Nasional ( UNITEN )
5. Universiti Lim Kok Wing
6. Universiti Kuala Lumpur
7. Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia
8. PORIM
9. MARDI
10.PERMATA
11. PETRONAS Research Institute
12. National Institute of OSH( NIOSH)
13. KWSP Institute
14. Malaysian French Institute
15. Maybank Training Centre
16. CIMB Training Centre
17. Nuclear Research centre
18. LHDN Institute PLPP
19. Pusat Latihan Perindustrian & Pemulihan OKU
20. Pusat Latihan Perundangan & Kehakiman
21. Kolej Islam Malaysia
22. Institut Alam Sekitar , …Etc … etc..

Knowledge that has not been shared or used for the goodness of mankind is meaningless. Fortunately for Bangi the tradition of propagating knowledge and sharing it nation wide has been carried out selflessly. UKM has shared most of its senior staff and professors to all the new universities and colleges nationwide. They became the impetus and key driver in the development of new universities in Malaysia. The similar trends have been carried out by other institutions in the Bangi areas.
Bangi Golf Resort

There is the trend called "The Bangi School of Thought(s) " (Prof Abd. Samad Hadi - Aliran Pemikiran Bangi) being propagated by the Bangi intellectuals to the new community they are serving. It revolves along the key elements of research, applications, publications, thinking and lifestyle unique of Bangi. The Bangi community has this mixed Urban Kampung lifestyle because most of them originated from the kampung after making good in their education and career. If you drive around Bangi residential areas you will notice that a lot of banana, coconut, mango and other plants normally seen in the kampung house being planted here. The suraus and mosques are heavily patronized while community organized regular meetings and functions among themselves. These are all the good traits of kampung lifestyle that has been practiced in Bangi. In my area Bangi Valley, we organized pot luck gatherings every year without fail for the last 15 years. In my earlier postings I have written on the sterling performance of Bangi students in their SPM. They will be the future generations that will carry the legacy of Bangi as Knowledge City and Society.

I hope the launching of Bangi Knowledge City ( Bangi Bandar Ilmu ) will be the key to the breakthrough performance in mobilizing intellectuals and knowledge society from Bangi towards the creations of prosperous, harmony and civilized Malaysia.

Oil Hike - Do the Right Thing

There is this joker by the name of Frank Beltran, propagating a drive to put down the oil price by stop purchasing petrol. Worst still he was instigating the public to stop buying from PETRONAS stations instead of other foreign owned stations. He was trying to put the biggest blame to PETRONAS on the current fuel hike tragedy. Poor guy he must be really dumb and blind on the real contributions PETRONAS has made to Malaysia for years and many years to come.

PETRONAS is the biggest and most successful Malaysian company, respected by International oil industry for its integrity, prudent and successful business model. It has been the savior for Malaysia during our financial crisis, economic downturns and the major contributors for the country revenue ( 40% of Malaysian revenue from Oil & Gas Industry ). It is the goose that has been laying Golden eggs for the country. And this joker is instigating Malaysian to kill the goose.

I gave you a personal response from one of PETRONAS senior staff that provides the insights and details of PETRONAS contributions to the country, Rakyat and industry. You are the judge and must act as a responsible Rakyat, put the blame where it is due and to the person who deserved it, not to a Company that have no final say on the oil hike, policy and the running of the country.

DO WHAT YOU LIKE by Datuk Dr. Rosti

The price of gasoline at the petrol station is set by the Government, not PETRONAS. PETRONAS has done its patriotic duty by paying the dividends, royalties, corporate tax, petroleum tax etc to the Government for YOUR benefit (rakyat lah). And bear in mind that 30% of its revenue comes from overseas operations, thus bringing in foreign exchange to the country.

OK. Assuming that you buy this idea proposed by whoever it was.
So PETRONAS will have reduced revenues. Bear in mind that the costs of operations are also increasing. So the profits are reduced. Then PETRONAS and other oil companies pay less taxes.

Then the Government will have less revenue. (Note: at least 40% of Government revenue for 2007 came from the oil industry). With less revenue, there will be less Government projects (you can then forget about bridges and highways, and rail tracks, and smart schools and not-so-smart universities, and hospitals, etc). So contractors and consultants, and con-sultans and con-cronies will cry and scream. Makan batu lah..
The Government has already announced freezing of recruitment. So, many new graduates will be unemployed. Makan batu lagi. Maggi mee pun tak mampu dah.

Later, all sorts of allowances for civil servants will have to be withdrawn. Treasury tak cukup duit. On top of that the oil industry may have to scale back many of its new investments, totaling about 45 billion ringgit over the next few years. Contractors, service providers, steel fabricators, maritime service providers etc will join the ratapan tangisan – no jobs.

Don’t forget that PETRONAS is sponsoring thousands of students in universities and even high schools – at any one time there are more than 4,500 university students being sponsored by PETRONAS in Malaysian universities and overseas. Also more than 2,000 high school children receive minor scholarships – children of poor families.

Kalau PERTRONAS tak ada duit, kesian lah mereka di atas tu. Shall I ask them to see the proposer of this idea (to boycott PETRONAS) and seek help from them instead?

So, it is to YOUR benefit that you make sure PETRONAS keeps making enough money to support YOUR Government so that your children can continue to go to school without paying for fees and books, and to go to universities at peanuts rates.

CONCLUSION: Help yourself and your family and your country by making sure that PETRONAS keeps making profits. Go to the nearest PETRONAS station and fill up now!!

Don’t forget that if you go to non-PETRONAS station, the profits that these companies get will go their shareholders OVERSEAS.
So, be patriotic. Do your duty. Go to PETRONAS!!

(I hope you guys will help to send this response to as many contacts as possible to counter this subversive proposal).

What do you say to this?

LET'S JUST DO IT ! ! !
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' PETROL FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT
WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET PETROL BACK DOWN TO
RM1.92 PER Litre....

“Here's the idea: For the rest of this year,
DON'T purchase ANY petrol from Petronas
the biggest price-up driver company
If they are not selling any petrol, they will
be inclined to reduce their prices. If they
reduce their prices, the other companies will
have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach
literally millions of Petronas petrol buyers “

STIRRING ODISSI - Ramli Ibrahim

Ramli and Sutra Dancers @ India

Ramli Solo Pose @ Homage India

Ramli Ibrahim is one of the most accomplished Odissi dancer in Malaysia and internationally. He dances with absolute passion and grace, as if performing for God. I saw him performed at the Art Space, Concorde Shah Alam and was captivated with the grace and energy that he radiated with all the symbolic moves he made. He is one of the symbols of perfection in performance that should be a showcase to youngsters today. It doesn’t matter what you chose to be but most importantly you must put all your devotion and energy to be the best in your chosen field.

Ramli the Odissi Master

For those who love Odissi and art do not miss a great exhibition titled “Stirring Odissi “at PETRONAS Gallery, KLCC. It is one of the most exciting exhibition that showcases artwork inspired by the Odessi dance form by 12 painters and 8 photographers from Malaysia and India. The exhibition is part of the Stirring Odissi International festival 2008, spearheaded by the Sutra Dance Theatre under the artistic direction of Ramli Ibrahim.

Odissi originates from Orissa in Eastern India and is one of the 8 recognized Indian classical dance styles. A traditional dance form which has thrived in spite of modernization and globalization, it is performed by dancers all over the world. Since Ramli Ibrahim started performing Odissi in Malaysia in 1983, Malaysian interpretations of Odissi have been received with acclaim in India. Malaysia has since groomed its own Odissi dancers and Sutra Dance Theatre is known internationally for its Odissi productions.

Petrol Hike Rumbles

It the midst of heavy downpour, lightning and flash floods at Lembah Pantai yesterday PakLa announced the new fuel price: Petrol RM 2.70 and Diesel RM 2.58 The population was shocked, not on the increase but the quantum , causing a mad rush on all petrol stations throughout the country right up to midnight. It was a crazy day and crazier night.

Today the sermons have started, all the Rakyat must be realistic and accept the new price and start living below their current means. Cut all the expenses and get ready for the snow ball effects on all prices of goods and services. The Kitchen Cabinet has decided what is best for the people, accept it, everything going to be all right. It’s beyond our control , we are dictated by the global oil price and God willing we will look at it on monthly basis because that how far we can see.

Mat Jenin was wondering under a coconut tree, what has happened to the wakil rakyat I voted in recently ? Are they working for the people or against the people, don’t this country belong to the people. Why did they keep saying it’s a subsidy when it’s our money in the first place. So whatever happened to billions of dollars the country benefited from the sudden increase of Malaysian premier crude? Whatever happened to the billions of dollars the country benefited from the increase of palm oil, rubber, taxes and other commodities. It looks like all the losses goes to the Rakyat and the profit goes to God knows who.

Forty percent increase of petrol price plus 6% inflation equal to reduce in purchasing power, equal to economic slow down, equal to down grading of economic rating to second class economy.

The Star :Petrol to cost RM2.70 from midnight
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Wednesday announced the new price for petrol is RM2.70 a litre, effective midnight tonight. He announced that the price of petrol would be increased by 78sen and diesel by RM1.

The 40% increase in petrol price is part of the new fuel subsidy plan the Prime Minister announced at 5pm Wednesday. The price of diesel goes up to RM2.58 from RM1.58.
