Merdeka 51 & Ramadhan Al Mubarak

Soon it will be Merdeka 51 for Malaysians but looking back at Merdeka 50, the air of celebrations is so much in contrast. There were so many changes in terms of political stability and economical pressures. The current political landscape and economical downturns has created this somber looks among Malaysians. Everybody seemed to have something to complain be it at home, work or running of the country.

The reality is Malaysian has changed and majority of the Rakyat have changed their mindset in terms expectations and aspirations. Gone were the days when the Rakyat can be threatened or bought with subsidies and goodies. In fact they are becoming INDEPENDENT in determining their political affiliations and in pursuing the new Malaysia.

For those who fail to accept the change and reinvent themselves, they will become outdated and out of trends. Counting their demise and extinction. Although there are two schools of thoughts on the results of Permatang Pauh by election, but the verdict is clear beating BN will be the trends for the few years to come especially to the young voters of 45 years and below. In fact more then 35% of the older, felt this way too. I was surprised when a 57 years old taxi driver was all for the change during our heavy political chat this morning. He was so excited to convince me and even slowed down his taxi to prolong our chat.

Whatever it is, in the spirit of Merdeka 51, I really hope the storm that bashing the ship called Malaysia will eventually passed through without wrecking her and we will all arrive in the safe haven for the benefit of future generations. We may have to jettison few cargoes and personality to achieve this.

To All Great Malaysians Happy MERDEKA 51

To fellow Muslims I take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness for whatever wrong I did throughout of our friendship and encounters. May Allah give you strength, health and patience to observe the Ramadhan Al Mubarak. May our fasting and good deeds be accepted and rewarded by God Almighty. Amen.

Bang DJ,

Salam Ramadhan & Selamat Merdeka. Semoga Allah SWT mencucuri rahmat NYA ke atas keluarga kita, sanak saudara, sahabat handai dan jua seluruh rakyat Malaysia secara am nya.

I am certain this bahtera called Malaysia, with God's Infinite Grace, will sail through. But yes, some rotten cargo will be forced to jettison overboard...and hoping for calmer waters in the next voyage.

Salam Shah,
I was at PICC Putrajaya with the whole family at midnight yesterday. We were observing the Merdeka in silence except for the people gathering along the road sides, the Administration City was quiet like being abandoned.

salam dato,

i cant help but to agree the merdeka hype this time around is simply lacking. perhaps it was the PP beating that spoilt their mood from partying. some of us had a blast nonetheless, celebrating the eve in true patriotic fashion amongst friends of different colors.

selamat menyambut Ramadan al-mubarak to you and family, sir!.

While I'm all about changes, I would also like to see moderation in changes that most Malaysian seem to get caught into now...Many before us have gone into chaos due to overzealous change they seek to implement... while the current system may be fraught with alleged corruption, it has brought us this far in terms of development for the country.. there are things we need to change and there are things that needs to be be left alone.... I am sadden that the current political scene has deteriorated into came calling and potshots at each other with no exception, nobody is taking the high road anymore.. just my 2 cents worth...

Many happy Ramadhan to all muslim anywhere you are

Hai Kerp,
Good to see that you had a great Merdeka bash with friends. Good food, good company and no race barriers so no complain.

Have a great Ramadhan.

Salam redha,
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your concerns. Yes the current system has brought us this far and I sincerely hope they will be able to reinvent themselves, improved on the weaknesses and face the reality of today.

Politics being politics it capitalized on issues and even non issues, but the leader must be smart and honest in serving the people. Perhaps the spirit of Ramadhan will shed some lights to those entrusted with leadership’s positions or even aspiring leaders.

Hello Jaflam,

You said:'For those who fail to accept the change and reinvent themselves, they will become outdated and out of trends'....My exact sentiment. 51 years have passed by. It has been far too long now to be concentrating on trivialities.

Time to make changes to get back to our dynamic old selves. Yes we were once dynamic, but people are so fond of knocking down what is already good, like our old education system where it made people think & it had character building concepts then.

Anyway, here's wishing you & family,

Happy Merdeka & Salam Ramadhan.

Hai Ruby,
Always good to hear from you. You touched on one of the most important component for success and development. The people and education, they have successfully made students that scored straight As but then failed to think creatively. The living and practical skill were so much lacking that most people become followers instead of thinkers.

There are so much good and humanities in Malaysia but then these assets have been demolished in place of plunderers and political traders.

Let’s pray and work for Peace, Harmony and Dynamic Malaysia and stop the political gimmicks from which ever front they come from.

Semoga keberkatan dan kenikmatan Ramadhan menyerapi hati dan kehidupan Ruby dan famili.
