Don't Forget or Pretend to......

It was a joke when the BN BBC members went to Taiwan for a study tour, but it was a bigger joke when the PKR sent their team in pursuit to the same hotel in Taiwan. I hope the people realized by now who is the bigger clown among the two. For God sake grow up and stop messing around with the country future.

Don't forget what they said: The generosity and kindness of the Malays are time tested. The sound minded forefathers from the other races were examplary too. Let’s see if the current generations could match the love of the country more then their love for power and lust. For those who have no patience will never made a good leader. Whatever it is NOBODY has the right to put this country at ransom.

Tun Tan Siew Sin, Presiden MCA dalam akhbar tempatan bertajuk "Tun Tan Answers Critics on Special Privileges" dalam ucapan pada 30 April1969.

"The Malays, through UMNO, were generous enough to relax the citizenship laws of this country to such an extent that within 12 months of independence, 90 percent of the non-Malays had become citizens whereas before independence 90 percent were still non-citizens after nearly 100 years of colonial rule in the MalayStates. In return for this major concession, the MCA and the MICagreed to continue the policy of preserving the special position ofthe Malays while at the same time upholding the legitimate interests of other communities.''

Ucapan YB Tun V.T. Sambanthan, Presiden MIC merangkap Menteri KerjaRaya, Pos dan Telekom di Dewan Rakyat pada 01 Jun 1965.

"Now, in 1955 we won the elections with a great majority. Then we obtained freedom in two years time. During this period, we had todiscuss citizenship and various other things. Now, what did the Malays do – since we are speaking on racial lines – what did the Malay leadership do?They had 88 percent of the electorate still with them. What did they do with citizenship?

If we look around in Asia and East Asia, particularly, you will find that my race the Indian race, is not welcomed in Ceylon, is not welcomed in Burma. Look at my brother Chinese race, it is not welcomed in Thailand, in Vietnam, in Cambodia, in all the other areas. What help do they get for citizenship in all these territories? In Burma, as we know, Indians have been send packing, in Ceylon they refused them citizenship and in Burma it is likewise. I know it, you know it.And yet in Malaya what happened? Here, we found that the Malay leadership said, " We shall take them unto ourselves as brothers, we shall give them full opportunity to live in this country, we shall give them every opportunity to become citizens". And so, in 1957, for the whole year, we waived language qualifications, and tens ofthousands of Indians, Chinese, Ceylonese and others became citizens...

As I said, it has been my great good fortune to have been born in this country. Where else can you find a more charitable, a more polite, amore decent race than the Malay race?Where else can you get such politically decent treatment for any immigrant race? Where else in the history of the world ? I ask you. These are the facts. Who are you to safeguard us? I am 10 percent minority race here. But I am happy here."

Tetapi saya amat gembira disini."

Salam Jaflam,

A very commendable article and reminder. However, I don't its the racial issue at question of late. Rather, its the mistreatment against all races, and abuse of power that made lots of people rather unhappy. However, this article is worth a deeper look and discussion as it will, ultimately, bear a great significance.

Salam Shah,
It’s ok to pick up on particular people or organization if they truly have abused their power but never abused the Religion or Race along the line especially when the one commenting it has superficial knowledge and belief on them.

Salam jaff,
I do beleive that these facts and the basis of the system that we have now should be made a little more prominent to the younger generation of the country. While some section of the political scene tend to use this sensitive issue to pursuit their own political agenda, I hope the seed of racial harmony where everyone respects the other's rights and agreement made to the creation of the country we call Malaysia today.

mt 2 cents woth. Thanks.

Salam Dani,
Fully agreed with you and hope the publication I reproduced here will contribute in a small way towards giving correct information to the younger generation.

In principle the kids of all races in this country grew up in harmony without any hard feeling towards each other, it is our job to ensure they are not sowed with racial bias and became great Malaysian without abandoning their culture, values and mutual respects.

When we have birthday party or open house at home my children friends from all races came and we were so happy to see their good friendship without any racial lines.

Jaflam,

We cannot afford to forget history. The wisdom of our founding fathers make Malaysia possible and a reality.

We need to take one step backward to move three steps forward from time to time.

Those early days we needed each other to survive. With greater prosperity comes greed and lust for power.

With so much leakages to our economy, will we be able to sustain our wealth for the next generations?

Our national leaders fail to grasp the new world order. The end of the Cold War has resulted in emerging economies of former communist regimes. These countries are very hungry to seek prosperity after so many years of pent up repression.

Malaysia will be lost into oblivion if it doesn't wake up and come up with fresh policies and effective implementation to tackle the global challenges.

hai lo,
It’s true that the changing global business environment needs smart, innovative and high moral leaders to pursue Malaysian dream.

It is unfortunate that the current leadership failed in most values. Nevertheless in changing the leadership or system we must ensure that it brought positive breakthrough performance, not chaos or stalemate that will put the country into doldrums.

Perhaps a cross breed of Tun Mahathir economic mastery and TG Nik Aziz integrity and piousness is required to move Malaysia to higher ground.

Jaflam,

Poverty is a threat to security. Wealth creation and equitability of wealth are the standards a govt is judged on.

Wealth creation is the easy part. Many failed states have wealth but failed in distribution of wealth. If a govt does not answer to the people, it will wreck havoc on wealth distribution.

Moral standards of the govt will ensure the welfare of the people are taken care of. If the govt is immoral, the people suffer.

But this is gloss over by diverting attention using the fear factor. Instead of taking responsibilities people became engross with insecurity and suspicions of one another. The divide and rule perpetuates power for the ruling class.

This becomes a time-bomb over time awaiting to explode.

hai lo,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and views.

It is unfortunate that the weak an indecisive leadership had lead to loss control of some sort where everybody from every front trying to take the opportunity to pressures the others and crossing the lines of sensitivities. Everybody have to behave more responsibly towards the nation instead of taking advantage of the situation.

There is no perfect government but most importantly the changes required to improve the performance and integrity of the government must be done in a responsible manner. Here we have an unpopular leader refusing to make way and opposition leader with no patience to take over the country in whatever means possible.

Malaysia has a good track record in economic development and has the capacity, capability and expertise to propel the country to be among the best as long as we do not tear each other apart. If the politicians from both fronts put the national interest beyond their political selfishness, this country will excel without doubt.

Jaflam,

Thank you for responding to my comments. This is Ramadan, a holy month. With so much talk abt religion and kealiman, why can't our Muslim politicians in particular observe amnesty during this period of fasting.

Unprecedented political bickering boils down to self-interests overriding national well being.

The stakes are too high with winners take all and pulling all the leverages of power.

We need a very upstanding PM. Agree with you on Tok Nik Aziz but not Tun M. The latter is too clever to destroy everything the country has built on.

Material development minus the spiritual development is doomed to lawlessness.

Common sense is nothing more than to create a win-win situation for everybody or for the greater good of the country.
