Gerak Panglima my first Acrylic

I have decided to have a go at acrylic painting after getting much encouragement from Pak Zawi determination and passion towards it. It was more difficult then I thought despite having a go at abstract rather the realist style. Still finding my ways with the most suitable and perfect strokes.

Well I am not finish yet with it but I displayed it here for your view. Being my first painting I meant so much to me despite being far from perfect. It shows three pesilat getting at each other and I named it Gerak Panglima. Let hope it looks much better when I finally finish with it. Anyway the painting has been booked by someone that I could not refuse.

Dato' Jaff,
Tahniah kerana sudah menjadi seorang pelukis setelah sekian lama menjadi 'art collector' dengan pelaburan yang bukan sedikit.
My artist friends told me that in art, no one can say you are doing it the wrong way. What we draw is our interpretation of things from our view. Just like you said to me, just keep on painting and soon you will get to be better and better.
I guess you wont be parting with you first painting however big the offered amount. Zendra will be disappointed for not getting the first painting from you :).

Dato Jeff,
Bravo Dato', definitely you have the talent. You managed to convey the movement and the grace of the silat figures. Do keep on honing your skill.
All the best and salam to you both

Slm Pak Zawi,
You are right there is no right or wrong but then we have to learn certain rules and principles in good painting and then break the rules to create our own master pieces.

I have started the journey to discover my best strokes and express my believe and aspirations through my paintings. It is my second phase in art, creating my own works starting with the silat series, the graceful but deadly art of self defense that I used to practice way back in my kampung. It is an art by itself and helps create responsible and credible individuals.

Well lets enjoy the journey and express ourselves through painting. All the best my friend.

Salam NanaDJ,
Thanks for the encouraging words. I have to do more study and sketches on the movements to make it alive, moving and deadly. meanwhile please bear with me hehee. Regards to bro M.

Salam DM,
Thanks for the offer and let me come up with something worthy of collections. I am sure you will do great job in promoting my works as then. Well i am lucky that even my experimental works have been booked which give much needed moral support for my journey.

salam jaflam (hehe sorry couldn't resist that rhyme Dato').

Awww someone beat me to your first work and I think I know the culprit *wink*

I love the colours in this Gerak Panglima, vibrant and lively, capturing the "getting at each other" feel.

Just curious, in the rules of silat, do the combatants take on one challenger at a time?

Minta laluan Dato' (gosh i'm really rude on my first visit here)

Pak zawi, saya buat serkap jarang ni. Isn't you who have booked Dato's first?

Dato' Jaff,
Please allow me to address Zendra. I am too poor to be able to afford Dato' Jaff's maiden painting. You can go ahead and buy it (that is if he will part with it hehehehe). best of luck to you.

Slm Zendra,
Thanks for dropping by and your comments.

I purposely chose the hot colors to reflect the combative mood of the warriors. Usually the skillful pesilat will be able to take on more then one opponents. At the highest level he will be able to detect the opponents even before they move or use the force exerted by them to deploy the fatal blows. I hope this art of self defense practiced by the Malays will be popularized for many generations to come.

Hope to paint more on the silat movements or gerak.

Salam Pak Zawi,
Like you I paint for the love of it and not so much for money. Meaning my painting will be affordable like yours but then I will not be able to paint as much as you did due to my time constraints. Let’s keep the owner of my first works anonymous for time being heheeee.
