Pulau Batu Putih goes to Singapore

In more then two hours judgment today the ICJ gave the sovereignty of Pulau Batu Putih to Singapore, Middle Rocks to Malaysia and South Ledge to the country where the territorial waters lies.

South Ledge ownership still subject to the arguments and interpretation of the judgments. So my friends Ancient Mariner and Mindful Mariner are spot on with their prediction on Batu Putih.

So what next? What are we going to do with the Pulau Pisang lighthouse that still man by the Singaporean? Hope we are not going to wait another twenty years to do what is right in our territory.

Salam Dato',
Hari paling sedih bagi rakyat Malaysia. Kita kehilangan kedaulatan ke tangan Singapura. Amat, amat, amat sedih sekali. Apa le yang para pemimpin kita buat? Kadang-kadang rasa terkilan betul

Mana silapnya?

Moga Tuhan menjaga kedaulatannya sentiasa. Jangan kita dijajah lagi...

Take care Dato'.. wasallam

Salam Kingmaker,
It was an unfortunate event that we lost Batu Putih to Singapore. The weakness on our side since the British time until the 70s and the attitude of Singapore contributed to this episode.

I hope this will be a major lesson learnt for our leaders to stop being too nice and compromising with others. We must always remember not to compromise on our RIGHT because once its taken away we will never see it again.

Salam Dato',

I wanted to make comments on my visit earlier, but was actually seething in anger about the loss. And they have the audacity to claim it was not because of poor defence...they never change, do they?

Shah,
It puzzles my mind how a letter from ACTING SECRETARY of State can became the fatal evidence to give up a sovereignty of a nation land. Is that all it take to give away a piece of your country and we are talking about being nice to people that snatch away our land.

We must read Singapore in totality not in pieces and definitely our competency to defend our case is not sufficient.

The case of Pu Pisang Lighthouse which is manned by Singaporean is another absurd case. With the current technology actually the Light House can be operated unmanned and monitored remotely. This has been done in many lighthouses in our country. So why the hells do we need the Singaporean up there. For all I care they could dismantle the light house they built and take it back to Singapore. We can easily erect our own lighthouse and further more the navigation equipments onboard ship is more then capable to navigate that stretch of water without the lighthouse. The whole Straits of Malacca is under Malaysian Radar Based - Vessel Traffic Management System which supervised all ships transiting the Straits. The navigation aids in the straits is so good that it almost lamp post navigation all the way.

I hope immediate action will be taken to rectify this blunder.

dear dato'

i think we could have won pulau batu putih easily if the case were fought or brought into attention right after merdeka or while singapore is still under the federation. But i guess we were too busy with something else. Isnt this one of the most striking features of the UMNO led govt. Suddenly something becomes important only when it is too late.

Hai U Lee,
It's so tiny that you may not find it in any map except for marine chart.

Although the size is so insignificance but the implications is major in terms of jurisdiction and maritime boundaries.

I will hop over soon. Thanks.

Salam Shirzad,
We tend to be fire fighting most of the time and our strategic planning is much to be desired.

We gave up Singapore and hope to solve the problem but instead they became a thorn in a flesh. As you correctly observed Singapore and the rest of it are all part of Malaysia and we have the authority to do whatever we want at that time. We don’t have the British, Dutch or Sultan to blame but ourselves for the mess we are in. Hope it will never happen again in our lifetime or generations to come.

Ahoy Jaflam, I guess your right, ta'boleh dapat chari on my maps. But its funny I used to go fishing practically every corner of Malaysia haven't heard of it, but guess its just rock only. If on marine charts, that means cannot be really visible.
I think ada oil around that place?
I couldn't help smiling read of your New Year eve in Australia...wow, you also had the chance to blow the ship's horn New Year eve night, huh?
It is a very nice feeling too...wa, saya dapat satu SYT give me a new year kiss, you dapat perumpuan dari Crocodile Dundee's country, ha ha, lucky you. Baik you ta'jatuh dalam laut! Arhaaa ha ha.
Jaflam, When I think of what you gave your cadets to "stop a running nose", saya ketawa la. I like your sense of humour!
You stay shipshape and have a nice week, John Wayne Lee, *wink*.

jaflam, that is why we need smart leader to lead the country. To me it is important and a requirement to see that those who inspire to be the leader of this country should have at least a PhD. Knowledges is very important to be a smart person especially so to be a leader of a country. There are no other ways. Knowledge, Knowledge and Knowledge.

It is useless to cry our a spilled milk. It is history now.

Have a nice day and take care.

Anon,
You are right there is no happiness in losing our land, especially to a neighbor that should be thankful to Malaysia for allowing them to be created in peace.

Surprisingly there are Malaysians who are happy with the decision and still talk highly of the state that used to be part of Malaysia. Any honorable and sensible State will gladly move out of Pu Pisang Lighthouse, and hand over the operations to our capable hand but not Singapore that rather cling to old tatty agreement that has outlive its intent.

Hope this saddest incident will wake up our leaders from their slumbers.

Hai U Lee,
I am not surprise you did not get to fish at Batu Putih, there are better fishing ground in Singapore and JB itself without getting yourself wet heheeeeee. I don't think there is oil there but plenty of Dugong.

JW Lee, seriously you must penned down all your wonderful and colorful experiences in a book ...... there is so much to learn and practice from them. You will be giving the younger generations a valuable practical learning in life and love. Take care and keep on smashing.

Salam Pak Idrus,
Thank you for dropping by.
Agree with you it’s a prerequisite for Leaders to be smart, knowledgeable and high integrity to meet the expectations and challenges of today. Otherwise we will be played around by our enemy and global community.

As the standard of education among Malaysian and global community increased their demands and aspirations became more sophisticated. A leader without foresight and strategic thinking will always be at a lost and be left behind.

I hope we always look back at history in moving forward so that similar blunder will not be repeated.

Hai Kerp,
Good to have you back, kind of worried what happen to your site. Well at least it gets the grey matter cracking and makes you love your home port better.

One thing one must not do is to drink your own pee, after whatever purifications have been done. Bcoz it’s still your pee and will damaged your grey matter beyond humanity and comprehension
